Color Me Monday...Heavenly Blue with TLC

I am in love with the new TLC stamp set. The little cloud is soooo cute! I made this little 3X3.5 card using scraps. It will be a mini-card/tag at my workshop on Monday. This week's Color Me Monday color combination by Jeanette Lynton is so pretty, even better in person than in the picture.


This card is all cardstock! No patterned paper. AND I only used one stamp set. I stamped on the Twilight card base with Gray Wool. I stamped the clouds on a scratch piece of paper and cut them out. The heart was made with a little heart punch. The design for this card came from a bigger one I made earlier this week. It is basically the same except for the chocolate card base, colonial white cardstock and addition of the rhinestone on the heart.

So much to share, so little time...here is a small taste of all the goody goodness.....

Oh, mygoodness......Summer school is exhausting! The first day, I taught how to make a little notebook (with hand-sewn stitching and embossing on the cover...I promise, pictures soon!) for my little 3rd and 4th grade detectives to use during our week-long session. My class was so cute today, they took their notebooks around with them to the various stations led by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, taking notes and writing down observations. After only two days....I am pooped.... Tonight I did a bit of shopping and I have been hard at work creating examples and product supply packets for my workshop next Monday. I will post pictures of those later....

My camping trip was awesome!! I didn't make anything for 4 days....by the time I got home I was having major withdrawls....(I did take a sketchbook. I wrote several goodies and did a few drawings....I might post some snipits of that later). Worst part about being gone for so long: I haven't even uploaded the pictures from my camera yet! Usually I do that every SINGLE day!!

I have lots of wonderful pictures and experiences to share...but right now my brain is a bit fried so I will keep this simple. Here is my father's day card. I will probably end up making 2 cards...because I will need one for the FIL of course. This one is for my dad because he is a fisherman. He taught me a lot about fishing as a kid, and I still use that knowledge now. When I showed this card to my husband...he really liked it! He said it is one of my best cards, it is different from other things that I normally make! YAY!! Enjoy!!

Guest Designer AGAIN!! Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge # 34

My Twilight mini-album was chosen to receive the Audrey Award and I was asked to be a guest designer for the Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge blog again!!

This week the movie is Ocean's 11 and the challenge was to use brads...for BRAD Pitt of course! I hope you will consider playing along this week!



For my card, I decided to create a 'Vegas' sign. I found an online sign generator, changed the text and printed it onto vellum. Next time, I think I will just use regular cardstock, as the vellum seemed to roll up when I added the liquid glass + glitter. I added brads where the 'welcome' greeting is because it didn't really go with my "Thanks for a Good Time' sentiment!

The clear overlays are hambly as well as the gold shimmery card base. I wanted to capture the glamor and glitz of a Las Vegas casino with this card, in honor of the movie Oceans 11.



Here is the second card I made with the sign generator. You can see that the Welcome sign fits this time for "Welcome home, it was boring without you." He he....super fun!! (It is a little hard to read the 'welcome' part....but you get the idea!)

Bring on Summer!

Hey everyone!! I am going camping this weekend so I won't be around...no crafting or computers allowed! I am taking my camera and a sketchbook, so we'll see what happens. Thank you for the blog awards, I will try to pass on the love next week sometime. Today was the last day of school for me so I have been busy wrapping things up and getting ready for summer school which starts on Monday. Watch for my post tomorrow with this week's Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge creation, I think you will like it!

In the meantime, here is a mini-book I started to capture my summer memories this year. It is a baseball card collecting book, but I am using it to tell the story of my fun summer. I started it last weekend at a crop. I always take lots of extra pictures and I decided to pair them up with my huge stash of colorful papers. Enjoy!!

Color Me Monday...the last one for May!!

This week's color combination is a tough one for me. I don't have all the ink colors or all the paper colors so I had to improvise!

I focused on clear embossing for the background and texture paper on petal card stock. Then I stamped the 'vine' on white daisy. I made the vine using a flourish and a leaf from 2 different stamp sets.

Color Inspiration Challenge # 53

Hey guys! Just a quick post for Kwerner's color inspiration challenge!!

This card features some basic faux stitching, new-to-me hounds tooth ribbon, a CTMH stamp set called 'In the Wild' and a little bit of flocking around the lion's mane. I rarely buy outline stamps, but this one was fun to color with my blending pen and markers. A little tip about using flocking....use liquid glue, apply glue and flock liberally and then press it firmly onto your image. Allow the glue to dry for a few minutes before coloring with a marker.

Blue Sun Emporium @ Etsy

I just love buying things on Etsy....Every month, I take an hour or two to browse the treasures of handmade things. I have gotten some neat stuff and some beautiful artwork. Recently, I learned that a friend from college has a shop Blue Sun Emporium. She sells the most wonderful Victorian modern jewelry. I ordered a few things on Friday, and they arrived today!!

Project 52 and The Numbers Game

The prompt this week over @ The Creative Type is to use numbers....

I decided to put together a little page using some of my favorite spring flower pictures and a countdown for the last weeks of school for a page in my project 52 album.


I used some chipboard #s and letters from the paper studio, some hambly screenprints & rubons...


Ooh, I should probably tell you that I received an Audrey (it is a little award for being a favorite...see my sidebar for the 'trophy' image) for my Twilight book...I am pretty stoked...I will be a guest designer again next week!

Guest Designer! CSCC # 33 EVER AFTER

YAY!! This is my first time to be a guest designer for anything, so I am pretty excited. The movie this week is Ever After with Drew Barrymore. I had never seen the movie, so I rented it on Monday and watched it right away. I could hardly wait to make something with this Cinderella story as my inspiration!! The very first movie I saw in a movie theatre was Disney's Cinderella. I remember hating the wicked stepmother and sisters, and I truly wanted to believe in the magic that took Cinderella away from the horrible home she knew, and turned her into a princess. I think there are many little girls who can relate to this story. Ever After is beautiful. i was so inspired after watching it to create something wonderful!!

This week, I was asked to be a guest designer for the Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge.
Tuesday evening, I was working away in my craft room, making some beautiful transparency bling flourishes (the challenge this week is to use a flourish in your design....i learned this really cool new technique from this tutorial!!) and I was thinking about the handsome prince that swept Cinderella off her feet and the beautiful glittery makeup that Drew Barrymore was wearing when she walked into the masque with her shimmery wings.

"In the world of stamping, cartoon princess are acceptable....Besides, there is a story behind it....and other stampers will appreciate it.....And I am making a card and gift bag for a niece's birthday on Saturday...and the cartoon princess is completely appropriate for this challenge."
You know, I have never considered myself a perfectionist....If something isn't good enough, then I will do better next time, but I am not going to KILL myself over something that is perfectly acceptable and appropriate for a situation. I am driven to create something using the means available, limitations on time, inspiration and flow of ideas. If something better just isn't there because of time constraints (like the American Idol Finale!!), means available (I lost my Silver Pearl embossing powder, it would've been perfect for this card!), inspiration (the movie IS about a princess), and flow of ideas (I tried to combine a new technique, a sweet memory, and the experience of watching the movie into the creative process of this card)

I hope you like this card and gift bag. I am sticking by the cartoon princess.


I used some beautiful shimmery watercolor paint for her dress and hair....The card features lots of bling with glitter, rhinestones. I also used rubons and some sticker bling from the Paper Studio. All the stamps, ink, and patterned papers are CTMH.

I did end up making an extra card, I like it.
