Sweater Makeover

One of my favorite Style School projects ever! I am so happy with the quality and quantity of the online classes I have taken...The classes truly inspire me an I always learn a lot and I am motivated to actually make stuff instead of just wandering around my craft room with no purpose or inspiration.

I made-over this little while Goodwill-found sweater during Nelliepalooza and I am so proud of how lovely it turned out! Makes me want to make over all my little white sweaters with some re-covered buttons, sewn on doilies, and hand embroidering!!

You can see the apron that I wear at school to keep my clothes clean underneath---I made that too, it is a halter top!

I even added little buttons to the sleeves and a length of fabric under the button holes. I got tons of compliments and it was perfect for one of those chilly days in the spring, right after I cleaned all my winter clothes out of my closet!  Thanks for reading!!

Anne Hathaway is an American actress and she is totally gorgeous! I know that I will never have her body or fabulous looks, so I will never be able to emulate her style...but that is okay with me!

One of my favorite movie/books is The Devil Wears Prada. Anne Hathaway plays a gorgeous Andy Sachs in the movie version and gets to wear some of the most beautiful and stylish outfits in. Jealous--much!!

All of my favorite style sunday girls have bangs--coincidence? I think not!

Guest Blogger: 'Old Hollywood Style'

Sarah is a local friend who recently started a blog (because I told her that she HAD to!) about her amazing makeup skills. I asked her to be a guest blogger because I know you will love her tutorials, I hope you go check them out. Her personality is so fun and her videos are amazing! ~Nellie

I wanted to do an 'Old School Hollywood' series...so naturally I thought immediately of Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe...but you know what? Everyone makes tutorials for Audrey and Marilyn. Honestly, Audrey Hepburn is my idol. She's so classy and beautiful, and Marilyn just oozes classic sex appeal..BUT- I wanted to do something different.

Lucille Ball.

Comedian. TV icon. These may be some things you think of when you think of Lucille Ball.
I admit, I know nearly nothing about pinups and rockabilly style. I think the style is great, but I know nothing about it-and it's not something I think of when I think of Lucille Ball. But really, with the neutral eyes, the false lashes, dark liner on the top lids, and the bright lips-not to mention the occasional bandana-all a big recipe for the classic pinup style makeup. So Lucille Ball it is.
Things you'll need to do to achieve this look:

• Eyeshadow: Neutral browns!
• False lashes of course! (If you need help with this, here is my tutorial on apply false lashes)
• Black liquid liner only on the top lash line.
• Eyebrows: Lose those arches! Her brows are smoothly rounded.
• For the lips, make sure you use a lip pencil and exaggerate that upper lip outside of your natural lip line. (But don't forget to make a deep "V") Now add the bright lipstick.

Style Sunday {7}

Since this is the Style Sunday before my birthday (Thursday, YIPPPEEEEEEEE) I decided to feature one of my favorite current style icons, Zooey Deschanel. Zooey is an American actress, singer-songwriter and a model. Her style is simply gorgeous. I cannot get enough of this girl. I love all of her accessories, hairstyles and outfits.

She is in fact my doppleganger. Ha! I have had several people tell me that I look like the girl from 500 Days of Summer....lucky me!! She is amazing! I used this picture for doppleganger week on facebook:

And I made these just for fun...not because I am obsessed or anything! HA!
