Did somebody say glitter, polaroids, and garland!

I have been so inspired to create my own garland this season, especially since reading this post.

I decided to make my own polaroid garland and ornaments using my Poladroid polaroid maker using photos from Christmas last year.

I didn't really plan any of this out ahead of time, I just sort of jumped right in.

Basically, I selected my photos and popped them into the polaroid maker, one at a time. Then, I arranged each picture in a word document and printed them off onto a sheet of cardstock. After cutting out the pictures, I was ready to create.

You can enjoy this experience with me....or use it as a tutorial to create your own!!

POLAROID GARLAND!

Supplies:
Glitter (any color will work, I just like CTMH's prisma glitter because it is sort of white)
glue stick
fixative (I used hair spray)
ribbon
hot glue gun or stapler
scrap of cardstock to use as a mask
buttons, more ribbon for a hanger

I ran a strip of glue along the white edges of the polaroid. I guess you could leave them plain and they would look really cool, I just wanted them to sparkle.

Sprinkle with glitter, shaking off the excess. I glittered a bunch and then I sprayed each one with some hair spray to fix the glitter in place. I cut a square of cardstock to lay over the picture part before spraying the hair spray. It caused a bit of discoloration to the printer ink.

After all the pictures were glittered, I created a loop using ribbon to hang the photos from. First I tried a staple...it looked alright, but I eventually switched to hot glue, it held the ribbon better. I guess I could have put black cardstock on the back to cover the glue spot, but I am not too worried about that showing.

Then I created a little hanger for the garland. Seriously, this is one of those things I bought like 3 years ago. I used a tiny bit of it for something and then I have saved the rest thinking that I would eventually find a use for it, and now it finally has a use! I glued buttons along the sequined ribbon.

Then I glued the ribbon loops to the buttons. I had many more photos than space on the garland.....

...So I put the rest on my Christmas tree.....

....They match the glittered snowflakes and start on top!

Oh, and I really love stockings and santa hats....I have tons of them hanging up this year!

I am feeling really generous this year...I decided to share a sheet of printable ornament polaroids with you. You could print this out a couple of times and use it to make your own garland. Remember, if you don't have that sequined ribbon that I used as a hanger, any ribbon would work...even a strand of white lights would be pretty!!

Click here for your own free printable. Here is a peek at the ornament polaroid sheet:

Don't want to make garland? Use the free printable to make some holiday cards....

Or a gift bag and tag. I white embossed a white elephant on one of the photos for a great little tag!

I would love to see what you make with the printable. Please leave me a link. I would also love to see any other DIY Christmas projects you have been working on. Have fun!!

What a neat idea! Love your free picture, too bad we don't have a colour printer or I would definitely make use of it, somehow. Your photography is gorgeous, by the way.
