Last week I decided that it was time to watch what I eat for a few weeks, before the holidays get here. Skip dessert, eat yogurt, be healthier. Some of my pants and shirts are fitting a little too tightly and I want them to be more comfortable this winter. I don't want to have to buy new clothes.
So I have been depriving myself throughout the day. Low-calorie breakfast. Hot tea (I've given up coffee with all the cream and sugar). Simple lunch with yogurt, granola bar, grapes and pretzels. Healthy.
Then I get home from school and I start to crave salt. I scarf down piles of kettle-cooked chips followed by mounds of chocolate-I-need-something-sweet-to-follow-the salt Halloween candy.
I just can't fight the hunger from 11:00 lunch to 6 or 7 p.m. dinner...I have to eat SOMETHING at 4ish. I should be going for a walk. The weather has been gorgeous lately but all I want to do is rest. Sit around. NOT exercise. I should be eating fruit or carrot sticks. Ew.
I try to eat a sensible dinner, but carbs are everywhere: rice, pasta, bread. And on the weekends its much worse...I have no self control at all...I eat everything in sight and I usually gout out to eat so there is tons of friend food and other junk.
Generally, I love myself...but every now and then I take a look in the mirror or a squeeze into a pair of pants and think...if only I had a little bit more self control..
These are all the pictures of food from my computer over the past couple of months...
This really made me LOL! I recognise my own intentions here...and my weaknesses! Lovely post. Good luck with the healthy eating!
ReplyDeleteI hear ya...oh me, do I ever. I have a little self control, once in awhile, but one thing I have learned is NOT to stop eating what you love. When I stopped eating junk food and went on this fruit/veggie kick, I did great! Lost 5 lbs in a week. By the end of that week, I was waking in the middle of the night and tearing the cupboards apart looking for anything that contained chocolate, sugar...you name it! So, now I don't deprive myself, but I try to control. Note that I did say TRY...LOL!
ReplyDeletehey cool blog!
ReplyDeletecould you visit mine?
I'd really appreciate it
Oh LOL!! I have asked myself these very same questions :) My trick is to eat something small between meals - helps me control the french fry cravings!
ReplyDeleteI could have written this post myself.
ReplyDeleteOh many, those loaded chips look sooo good! When I was being good about eating, I found that a piece of whole wheat bread, spread with peanut butter and half a banana cut up really satisfied my cravings without being too off the charts.

Thanks for such an honest post. And something most us can relate too. It's always good to know we're not alone with our food struggles.

This is a post I can really identify with. I have been there many times and I sympathise.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog!
I could have written this post myself. In fact I think have written something very similar :-)
ReplyDeleteGood luck to you!
That was me last year. Very tight jeans, and struggling to keep the weight off. Stopping eating the food I like never works for me though.
ReplyDeleteWhat does work - only eating if I'm actually hungry and stopping eating when I'm starting to feel full. Not clearing my plate for the sake of it.
And - lots of exercise.
